QUOTES :
Phil Quaife, nr 1 Tech9 Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup : “We’ve done quite well so far, we found a good set-up, and the car is good, but we lost a lot of time on the braking zone, for example. We are catching up with cars on the straight line, but they catch us up again in the braking! We need points this week-end, so we will work on it.”
Ed Morris, nr 8 RMP Dodge Viper Competition Coupe : “All the Dodges set a good time, we are on a good pace, so it is important for all the team, and that gives us motivation. We knew before that this track would be good for our car. Now we have to be consistent during the race if we want a result.”
Hans Knauss, nr 13 S-Berg Racing Team Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 : “We had a gearbox problem, so I could not do any laps this morning. I did not know this track, so it is important for me to run as much as I can. So it is going to be really difficult to come in the qualifying with no experience!”
Klaus Ludwig, nr 16 Martini Callaway Racing Corvette Z06R GT3 : “The Corvette is working very well here. In both sessions we set the fastest time, and I hope we will manage to do the same in qualifying. The car is very efficient on the long straight. We had a good top speed here, and our engine is good. We tested here this winter, so we know the perfect set-up. With new tyres, we will surely be one second faster.”
Jean-Claude Lagniez, nr 26 Hexis Racing Aston Martin DBRS9 : “This track is great, even if we had a bad maximum speed. But the car is very consistent, so it is very important for the race. We could not fight for the pole position, but we might have a result in the race.”
Michael Greenhalgh, nr 32 Team Berlanga Ascari KZ1R GT3 : “Our car is good in the fast corners, we had a good direction change, the only problem is with the brakes, but we will fix that. It is my first time here, I did ten laps during the free practice, but the track was not too difficult to learn. We could be the surprise of the week-end.”
Henri Moser, nr 38 Kessel Racing Ferrari 430 : “I know this track very well. We did a few tests here this winter, and I also did the Ferrari Challenge race here this year, so for the first time of the season I know the track perfectly. Our goal is to score big points. We had to do a clear race, with no mistakes, and if we keep up our good rhythm, we will finish in a good place.”
Gunnar Jeannette, nr 40 Topspeed Racing Ford Mustang GT : “I raced this year with the Ford Mustang GT4, but it is a different car. We are working hard on this GT3 car, we had a good race in the British GT at Snetterton, and we are getting better and better. This is my first time in Monza, so with only two free practice sessions, it is hard to learn the track and at the same time to find a good set-up. We have a lot of power, but it is a big and heavy car, so we are struggling to get a good speed in the straight line, and also in the breaking zone.”
Margot Laffite, nr 51 AutoGT Racing Morgan Aero 8: “It is great! I had good fun, it is fantastic. In the first session I managed to do a lot of laps, so it is perfect to get used to the track and the car. In the second session I had a problem with the car, so I needed to come back to the pits, so that was more difficult, as I do not have the experience to keep the tyres warm. I did not know this track, but it is not too difficult to learn. But here you need a strong heart, which I do not have yet! At the beginning I tried to follow my father, Jacques Laffite, but he did not wait for me! So I’m learning, and I had great fun. It is fantastic to be here, with my father, with Jean-Pierre Jabouille as team-manager, with this fantastic car, it is great!”
