“The conditions were pretty wet. It was our first time with Mike in this car on the wet. We were both a bit anxious about it. In the end, the car was fantastic. It handled very, very well. It was very fast. We made a big gap with the other Corvettes. The team made a huge effort over the winter and I’ m so happy for them and so happy for me and Mike as well. I don’t have the words for it. It was very easy to drive on the wet with the Corvette; the brakes were fantastic, the handling was great. I think we’re three Corvettes at the front, so it’s good in the wet. Graff Racing chose a good setup, so I’m very happy for me and them and Mike as well. We made an early stop, as Mike was faster than me. It was a good opportunity to overtake the leading car, and it worked.”

“When I took the car, I tried to push a lot. We’ve never driven this car on the wet, so it was very delicate. I pushed a lot. I knew that the other Corvettes were very fast, so I tried to push the steering into the straight line. I saw the other Corvette and continued to push, and after I tried to keep my tyres, because the track was drying. At the end of the race it was very delicate and I think all the cars were on the same level because the tyres were delicate. We didn’t want to come in to change tyres because that would have taken too long, so we had to keep the tyres and drive carefully so as not to destroy the car. At the end of Silverstone, we were very sad, because our car stopped in the last lap, and we were in 1st position, so we’re very happy with this result.

“The car felt very good in the beginning. I had a lot of traction. I was faster than the Lamborghini and I managed to overtake him in the second lap. Then I tried to push and tried to get a gap between them. We lost time in the pits. I think Mike was faster than me, and they stopped earlier than us. Christian also did a great job and drove to second place. It’s a perfect place for us and we get points as well.”

“The first thing I want to do is thank my team mate Daniel because he set the base to this second position. I took the car and Mike had already passed me, and he was too fast for me. We kept the speed through the track and I tried to bring the car safely home. For nearly every team, it was the same problem that we didn’t test in the rain. We have no idea what kind of pressure or how it would increase or how the tyre will degrade. I was a little bit surprised that the tyre kept so long, because it’s very soft and good in the hard rain and I was very surprised it kept its performance up for so long.”

“In the beginning I had brand new rain tyres, and I looked for the dry track and was aggressive with the tyres, but they had fantastic grip. It was fantastic for me. After three laps, overtaking the Ferrari and many cars, this was stopping my …? I’m happy.”

“I took the wheel. The big job was for Toni, because he started in 13th and he gave me the car in 6th. I tried to push as hard as I could to shrink the gap between me and the other drivers. The car was easy and my team manager said I was faster than Christian, but the gap was still important. I pushed a lot and Christian might’ve seen me in his mirror. The most difficult was at the end of the race, because the track was drying with every lap and the tyres were degrading in performance, so in braking, the car moved a lot. Two laps before the end, I stopped pushing to save the tyres and the car. There was still some water on parts of the track. The good line was almost dry, but the end of the second sector and the third sector were very wet at the start.”
