Paul Warren – No.4 Kessel Racing Ferrari F430 GT3: “It could have been better – I was taking it easy to begin with, intending to take a few more risks towards the end of the session. But then I went into the first chicane a bit too quick, outbraked myself and spun the car. It was a bit slippery in places, although I was fortunate with traffic.”
Alois Meir – No.2 Martini Callaway Racing Corvette Z.06R GT3: “I had a few problems on the wet track, so my qualifying did not go well – we will have to see how things go in the race. Sascha did a good time, so we are well placed for the second race.”
Erik Zwart – No.25 Team Berlanga Ascari KZ1R GT3: “My qualifying session really wasn’t very good. We made some changes to the set-up, but unfortunately they didn’t work. We’ll go back to how we had the car set up before qualifying.”
Martin Rich – No.26 Team Berlanga Ascari KZ1R GT3: “I’m reasonably happy; the Ascari is very good in the wet, very good in the dry – but unfortunately, it’s not so good when it’s just damp. At the start of the session, we were in the top five, but as the track dried I couldn’t really go any quicker, so we drifted down the leader board.”
Thomas Mutsch – No.20 Matech GT Racing Ford GT: “It was great; it was really tricky on the circuit. We had a really good set-up, so the team did a good job there – I hope this afternoon’s race goes like that.”
Ian Khan – No.20 Matech GT Racing Ford GT: “I knew the track would be getting faster as the session went on, so I was aiming to put in a quick lap near the end. Unfortunately a lot of other people were aiming to do the same thing, so there was a lot of traffic, and I also came across a few yellow flags – I had to abort my best lap at Parabolica. But I’m happy with fifth, because we need to be near the front of the grid. I don’t really mind whether it is dry or wet for the races – it’s the same for everyone.”
Stuart Hall – No.33 APEX Motorsport Jaguar XKR: “We’re struggling in the wet – at the moment we’ve got a lot of oversteer, so when you hit the brakes, it’s almost like doing a ‘Scandinavian flick’ into the corners! We’ll fix it, though. And then, the engine has so much torque that in the wet, we can get wheelspin in fourth gear. It means you’re so busy in the cockpit, there’s barely time to breathe!”
Richard Williams – No.6 Trackspeed Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S: “The conditions were really tricky, but that’s no excuse. I was pushing really hard to do a good lap, in case conditions got worse; I got caught up behind a slower car, and ran into the back of the Lamborghini in the Parabolica. It was completely my fault, and it’s so frustrating – it damaged the radiator, so we couldn’t continue, and we feel we had a real chance of taking pole position.”
