Next season the Super Taikyu Series in Japan is to add a new class based on the FIA GT3 regulations with the full support of the SRO Motorsports Group, the promoter of FIA GT3 racing worldwide. In 2011 the new ST-X Class will have three to four races with a full race schedule scheduled for 2012.
The Balance of Performance will be regulated in accordance with the one applied in the FIA GT3 European Championship in order to preserve the open-to-amateurs spirit of the Super Taikyu Series.
Stephane Ratel, CEO and Chairman of the SRO Motorsports Group said: “Japan is a very important market for us and we are very pleased to announce our collaboration with the Super Taikyu Organization to bring GT3 to Japan. GT3 is already established in Europe and South America, and we are confident that the new class in the Super Taikyu Series will become a huge success.”
