2009 was a very successful year in racing for ALPINA , with four victories (one from customer team Sport Garage), 625 kilometers in the lead, and nine front-row starting positions. However, ALPINA will not field a factory works team in GT3 in 2010. "We showed that we‘re in a position to develop a race car capable of victory in a very short time, and we now wish to focus on developing our customer team business. We are looking forward to continuing last year‘s successes with new customers S-Berg Racing, for example," said team boss Andreas Bovensiepen.
The Austrian S-Berg Racing Team will purchase the two BMW ALPINA B6 GT3s that were campaigned so successfully by ALPINA in 2009. S-Berg Racing will compete in the FIA GT3 European Championship, as well as the ADAC Masters Championship. Not all drivers have been selected by S-Berg, and there are currently drives available in these two B6 GT3s. ALPINA have continued to develop the B6 GT3 race car in terms of the engine, suspension and electronics for the 2010 season and will continue to sell cars to customer teams. The high level of service already offered to B6 GT3 cusotmer teams will of course continue.
"We‘d like to thank our drivers, suppliers, and especially our team employees for a successful 2009 racing season. It was especially through the efforts of our tireless race team members that we were able to turn our team into a winner in our first year. Lastly, we‘d most certainly like to thank the fans and the media for their positive response to, and support of, our racing effort," Andreas Bovensiepen concluded.
