Frederic Makowiecki set the fastest lap time of the day in the second Free Practice session at Oschersleben.  The Adria race winner posted a lap of 1m30.005 in the #4 Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9 right at the end of the 60-minute session, 0.119 seconds quicker than the #24 Alpina BMW Alpina B6 GT3 of Claudia Hürtgen, despite carrying 30kg of success ballast following their two podium finishes in Italy last month.   

Hürtgen had been at the top time sheet for most of the practice session, demonstrating the progress the team have made since the start of the season.  The second Alpina B6 of Jens Klingmann and Christian Mamerow was 5th fastest once again.

Sascha Bert put in the third fastest time of the session, after setting the second fastest time of the morning free practice, to show the potential of the Zakspeed Viper ahead of tomorrow morning's qualifying session.  The second Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin of Thomas Accary and Julien Rodrigues was 4th fastest with the Muehlner Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S of Jurgen Haring and Marc Basseng rounding out the top six.

Qualifying for Rounds 5 & 6 of the 2009 FIA GT3 European Championship will take place on Saturday morning at 09:40 (local), with the first 60-minute race of the weekend at 15:15 the same afternoon.
